River Condition Assessments

Wildscapes CIC can now offer River Condition Assessments – our trained and accredited surveyors will undertake desk-based ‘River Type’ surveys, as well as field assessments using Modular River Physical Survey (MoRPh) techniques.

These methods combined will provide you with a baseline watercourse condition assessment, ahead of any restoration or improvement works, to establish value for Biodiversity Net Gain.

River Condition surveys can be used simply to identify the condition of a watercourse that you might be looking to improve for ecological purposes (this could be a canal, or a leat, stream or river of any size.)

This type of assessment will always be needed if there is a watercourse within a development site boundary (or within 10 metres of the site boundary) for Biodiversity Net Gain purposes.

Alternatively, if you are a landowner looking to use some of your land as a ‘habitat bank’ (for Biodiversity Net Gain purposes) then watercourse units can be created through undertaking a baseline watercourse assessment – get in touch of any of these options apply to you!
