PUBLIC NOTICE – The Meadows Rejuvenation Project Update
Please note that the entire site will be closed to the public over the festive period. We anticipate that The Meadows will be reopened during the week commencing 3rd February.
As the contracting work stages have been progressing, the footpath works carried out to date have been subject to almost daily damage, by trespassers disturbing the site and walking on the newly laid footpaths. This has meant that remediation works have been needed on most days to repair the footpath damage, hence resulting in delays to footpath completion and further extending the time the site is closed.
Footpaths will likely be finished approximately two weeks prior to the planned opening date but they do require time to set. During this time, it is important to avoid use of the path to allow the gravel to bind and stabilise. Any further damage to the footpaths will result in additional delays.
The Wildscapes team are currently working on the final stages of the footpaths and the top North West corner of The Meadows will be finished within this revised period. There will be a short pause over the festive period as the organisation has a shutdown and work will commence full speed ahead in the new year.
A polite reminder that unauthorised entry is strictly prohibited.
Fencing and notices are provided for the safety of the public and improvement of the project, so please respect these. We are working closely with Wirksworth Town Council to complete the works on time and appreciate the support of local residents to ensure the space can be accessible and enjoyed by all as soon as possible.
Thank you for your continued support.
Best wishes for the festive period.
