Overall Purpose
To support the Water Team in the delivery of the Great Crested Newt (GCN) District Level Licencing (DLL) contract through each stage of the project, ensuring work is delivered to an excellent standard for clients and the consultancy. To support the team in wider projects as the service expands into other contracting and consultancy opportunities.
When required, provide site operative support in the delivery of a range of additional habitat creation and management tasks at a variety of project sites across the region. Core services include pond creation/restoration, natural flood management, wetland creation and terrestrial habitat delivery. Some of these tasks may include working with the team on further delivery features such as fencing and other practical installations.
Key Responsibilities
- With the Wildscapes Water Team, add to the ongoing development of a strong relationship with all stakeholders involved with the DLL scheme including, Natural England, local councils and LPA’s, private landowners, sub-contractors and NGO’s.
- To help the team with the site selection process to identify optimal areas to create and restore ponds in accordance with the DLL scheme.
- To contribute towards the onsite delivery of the creation and restoration of ponds to the Natural England specification, assisting the team supervisor / manager with the site supervision of DLL sites and sub-contractors in accordance with CDM Regs 2015. With training and development resulting in delivery of sites & subcontractors independently.
- Support seasonal delivery programmes as they arise, such as the surveying of ponds with our ecology team using GCN eDNA survey methods.
- To assist with the administration of the scheme, in particular the uploading of information on to SharePoint and Google Drive.
- On-site support to the Wildscapes Water Team to deliver a range of practical habitat management and creation projects including wetland creation, natural flood management and pond creation and/or restoration to distinct client specifications.
- Build excellent customer relationships and ensure work is completed to the standard expected by the client. Ensure there is effective on-site customer
communication and quality assurance. - With the wider Wildscapes team, maintain Wildscapes tools, equipment, and storage space. Contribute to the effective running of the operational base
including tool maintenance, materials stock and equipment checks.
